Bao stands for Bart and Audrey Offeringa-Deckers. Safari is the Kiswahili-word for travelling. During our first trip to Kenya we got hooked on this beautiful country. Two years later we made a trip to Tanzania followed by a 2-month-trip to both countries.
We always feel the desire to return. In Africa you find the wilderness with all the animals, the beautiful views, the amazing sunsets, majestic mountains like the Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, big red elephants having fun in a waterhole, elegant giraffes and the shy dikdik.
Last but not least the beautiful, hospitable, friendly people we met and opend up their house and welcomed us in to their family or just offered us a place to sleep. Asante sana.

Bao staat voor Bart en Audrey Offeringa-Deckers. Safari is Kiswahili voor reizen. Tijdens de eerste reis naar Kenya zijn wij verslingerd geraakt aan dit mooie land. Twee jaar later hebben we een reis gemaakt door Tanzania om vervolgens afgelopen jaar 2 maanden door te brengen in allebei de landen.
Afrika roept een diep gevoel van herkenning op, een verlangen om terug te keren. In Afrika vind je de wildernis met zijn dieren, de prachtige vergezichten, het bijzondere licht als de zon ondergaat, majesteuze bergen als de Kilimanjaro en Mount Meru, grote rode olifanten die zich vermaken in waterpoelen, gracieuze giraffen en de schuwe dikdik.
Niet te vergeten, de buitengewone, gastvrije, vriendelijke mensen die we zijn tegengekomen en ons hebben opgenomen in hun familie of gewoon een slaapplaats boden. Asante sana.

In between our travels outside of Europe, we always return to Mitteldorf in the Virgental, Austria. Since 1982 this feels like a second home. The nature is overwhelming; Innergschloss, Dorfertal, Umballfalle. Sometimes we discover new beautiful places like the Lobbensee or the Jagdhausalmen in Defreggental.
Reasons enough to return here regularly.

Tussen onze verre reizen door gaan we naar ons vaste stekje in Mitteldorf in het Virgental. Al sinds 1982 voelt dit als een tweede thuis. De natuur is overweldigend; het Innergschloss, het Dorfertal, de Umballfalle. Soms ontdekken we nieuwe mooie plekjes zoals de Lobbensee of de Jagdhausalmen in het Defreggental. Kortom, redenen genoeg om hier regelmatig terug te komen.
